FAQ
What’s included with my monthly fee?
Unlimited visits, same day and next day appointments for acute issues, extended visits, enhanced access to your provider via email, text or phone are all included when you’re a patient at our office. We also offer comprehensive annual physicals, minor procedures in office, well woman exams, chronic disease management, sports physicals, well child physicals and much more. You also get access to wholesale medication pricing, negotiated rates for imaging and labs.
Will I benefit from this service even if I don't require frequent medical attention? I'm pretty healthy.
We think so, yes. Anyone who has a service custom tailored to them has better outcomes. We really believe your health is a compound interest of your habits and we can help optimize at all stages of life. If you’re young let’s develop healthy habits and focus on preventing disease. If you’re older we’ll screen for potential harms and manage chronic illness so it doesn’t slow you down.
How will this save me money? It seems like I’m just paying twice.
You are already paying twice! First time — your health insurance premiums. Second time — every purchase you make that goes toward your health insurance deductible. Employers, individuals, and families are all struggling with skyrocketing insurance premiums. For traditional insurances we eliminate copays and unnecessary visits. You have access to wholesale pricing for medications which depending on how many medications you take can be an enormous savings per month. We also have negotiated at-cost pricing for labs and imaging which depending on your deductible can also lead to loads of savings. Our goal is to do what we’ve always done in primary care but do it in a more cost effective and quality manner.
Will you see me if I have insurance?
Of course. We’re not anti-insurance, quite the opposite. We just believe insurance should be used more efficiently. Basic primary care services aren’t actually that expensive so it makes less sense to use your insurance to cover these costs. But cancer treatment, a major surgery or a car accident are very expensive. For these reasons we highly recommend you carry some kind of high deductible plan or health sharing plan to cover your treatment in the event of an accident, hospitalization or other major event. If you want more information on how you can adjust your insurance or obtain one of these plans please ask, we’ll be happy to refer you to someone you can help.
So if you don’t take insurance are you a concierge practice?
Direct Primary Care and Concierge Care are used interchangeably but they are different. Concierge practices charge you generally a higher monthly fee for the exclusivity of being one of a few patients to see a physician. They still bill your insurance. Direct Primary Care also limits patient volume but removes insurance from the equation which enables us to charge lower prices and negotiate better rates for labs, medications, and imaging. Using your insurance less often gives you the ability to lower your premiums over time.
Do you require a contract?
Do you accept medicare?
At this time we are not accepting any new Medicare patients.
Can we contact you any time? What about if I’m out of town?
What if I need to see a specialist?
If you need a specialist we are happy to refer you to one in your network and coordinate care with them. These visits are still billed through your insurance. If you are self pay we can help negotiate more affordable rates for office visits and procedures.
